WATCH: Rohit Sharma trains for South Africa ODI series at Ranji Trophy venue as Mumbai take on Himachal
Senior India batter Rohit Sharma was spotted training at the BKC ground in Mumbai, where Mumbai is currently locking horns with Himachal.
After enjoying a fruitful outing in the Australia series Down Under, former India captain Rohit Sharma has begun his preparations for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. The senior India batter was spotted training at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy at the BKC Ground in Mumbai on Saturday, November 08.
Rohit was spotted training at the venue, where Mumbai are currently locking horns with Himachal Pradesh in their fourth-round Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match. Rohit reportedly arrived at the ground in the morning and did some light training before running. He also enjoyed the action between Mumbai and Himachal.
At lunch, he was spotted watching some of the players batting in the nets at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy and was also seen chatting with his former Mumbai teammate Dhawal Kulkarni, who is currently serving as Mumbai's bowling coach. However, it is not clear if Rohit batted in the nets on Saturday.
Rohit, who has undergone a physical transformation in the last few months by working hard on his fitness, reaped the rewards of his efforts in his comeback series against Australia last month. The Hitman flopped in the 1st ODI, but bounced back with a half-century and a century in the next two matches to bag the Player of the Series award.
Rohit slammed a brilliant 73-run knock in the second ODI and followed it up with a match-winning, unbeaten 121 in the third and final game to finish the series as the highest run-getter with 202 runs from three matches. Rohit and Virat Kohli shared a match-winning partnership in the 3rd ODI, reminding fans that they still have enough left in their tank for India in ODIs.
Rohit Sharma to return against South Africa
Rohit will return to action for India, when the Shubman Gill-led side takes on South Africa in the upcoming three-match series, which will be played from November 30 to December 06. Both Rohit and Kohli were expected to feature in the unofficial ODI series between India A and South Africa A later this month, however, the duo were not picked in the Tilak Varma-led squad.
