New Delhi: Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign striker Darwin Nunez in a deal of £46.3m. According to a BBC report, the player is now expected to undergo a medical ahead of his transfer to the Saudi club.

The Merseyside club has recently sold Luiz Diaz to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5 million. The sale of these two players will help the Reds' chances of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The Magpies turned down an opening bid of £110m from Liverpool last week as they value the striker at around £150m. Earlier, Liverpool have rejected an approach from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr for Nunez in January worth around £60m.

The club had no intention of selling the player midway through the season, as they were competing for major titles during the second half of the campaign.

The signing is a big statement for the Saudi Pro League and Al Hilal, as they secured the player in the prime of his career from the Premier League at a reasonable price.

Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 in a deal worth up to £85m and has netted 40 goals for the Reds across three seasons at Anfield. He started in just eight Premier League games during the club's title-winning 2024-25 campaign.

The Saudi side has already signed a few top players from the Premier League, including Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, Fulham and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

Liverpool's summer transfer window

Liverpool have been one of the most active clubs in the summer transfer window and have signed Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. They are also interested in signing Alexander Isak, but their opening offer was rejected by Newcastle United.
