Champions League: PSG maul Leverkusen, Arsenal beat Atletico, Man City, Barcelona register wins

Reigning champions PSG mauled Bayer Leverkusen 7-2 with the help of goals from Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha. Barcelona thrashed Olympiacos 6-1 while Arsenal defeated Atletico Madrid 4-0.

It was an exciting night of football as the Champions League returned to action on Wednesday. As many as 43 goals were scored and five red cards were handed out as the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester City recorded convincing victories in their respective fixtures. Reigning champions PSG mauled Bayer Leverkusen 7-2.

Leverkusen's Robert Andrich received a red card in the 33rd minute as PSG made a mockery of 10-man Leverkusen. Marcus Rashford scored twice to help Barcelona thrash Olympiacos 6-1, while Arsenal defeated Atletico Madrid 4-0 in a clinical display. Manchester City beat Spanish side Villarreal 2-0, while Inter Milan won 4-0 against Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Barcelona thrash Olympiacos 6-1

Barcelona made light work of Greek side Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday with a convincing 6-1 victory. Fermin Lopez bagged a hat-trick while Marcus Rashford scored a brace to power the Spanish giants to a big win. Lopez opened the scoring in the 7th minute to put Barcelona in the lead before adding a second in the 39th minute.

Lamine Yamal converted a penalty to get into the scoresheet in the 68th minute, before Rashford scored his first in the 74th minute. Lopez completed his hat-trick with his third goal in the 76th minute as Rashford added another three minutes later to help Barcelona complete a 6-1 rout of Olympiacos.

PSG hammer Bayer Leverkusen 7-2

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain produced a relentless attacking display to hammer Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen 7-2 and make it three wins in a row in the Champions League 2025-26 season. A brace from Desire Doue, along with goals from Vitinha, Ousmane Dembele, Willian Pacho, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes helped PSG earn a stunning win.

Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 4-0

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal produced a clinical display to beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 in a riveting fixture in the Champions League 2025-26. Viktor Gyokeres netted a brace as Arsenal scored four goals inside 14 minutes to run riot and continue their winning run in the competition. The 4-0 win over Atletico means Arsenal are yet to lose a game in the Champions League this season.

Manchester City, Newcastle United register victories

Manchester City ended their winless away run in the Champions League with a 2-0 victory against La Liga side Villarreal in Spain on Wednesday. Striker Erling Haaland and skipper Bernardo Silva scored in the first half to help City wrap a convincing victory. Haaland scored for a 12th consecutive game across competitions to extend his incredible scoring streak for City.

Newcastle United defeated Portuguese side Benfica 3-0 with the help of goals from Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes. Gordon opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 32nd minute to put the Premier League side in the lead, before Gordon completed a brace inside 13 minutes in the second half to wrap up a 3-0 victory for his team.

Inter Milan beat Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0

Inter Milan defeated Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 to continue their winning run in the Champions League 2025-26 season. Denzel Dumfries opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Lautaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu,  and Francesco Pio Esposito added three more to wrap up a convincing victory for the Serie A giants, who finished as the runners-up last season.
