New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo added another remarkable chapter to his illustrious career on Saturday as he became the first footballer to score 100 goals in four different countries. Yet while his personal milestones keep stacking up, the search for his first official trophy with Al Nassr goes on.

The 40-year-old forward struck in the Saudi Super Cup final against Al Ahil at the Hong Kong Stadium, calmly converting from the spot in the 41st minute to give his side an early advantage. That goal not only opened the scoring but also carried historical weight completing his century with Al Nassr.

Ronaldo's record reads like a roll call of football's modern giants. He netted 450 times in a glittering spell at Real Madrid, scored 145 goals for Manchester United, added 101 during his stint at Juventus and remains the top international scorer of all time with 138 goals for Portugal. With his tally now into triple figures at Al Nassr, he stands alone as the only player to reach such numbers with four different clubs and his national team.

What makes his achievement even more special is the span of his career. From a teenager breaking through at Sporting CP to conquering England, Spain and Italy and now leading the line in Saudi Arabia, CR7 has continually adapted and proved over the time his hunger and ability wherever he goes.

Silverware wait extends

With all the personal triumphs, his collective glory with Al Nassr still eludes him. Saturday’s final against Al Ahli ended in heartbreak as Al Nassr lost 5-3 on penalties after a pulsating 2-2 draw. Ronaldo’s early strike was cancelled out by Franck Kessie before half-time while Marcelo Brozovic restored Al Nassr’s lead only for Roger Ibanez to force extra time.

In the shootout, Al Ahli held their nerve with Edouard Mendy making a decisive save to deny Al Nassr a first major honour since Ronaldo’s arrival. It was another near miss for a side desperate to translate their star power into silverware.

Legacy secured, hunger remains

Even in defeat, Ronaldo’s moment of history was impossible to ignore. At 40, he still continues to push boundaries reminding the world why he remains at the top of the game . Records will eventually be broken but his ability to sustain elite levels across leagues and countries sets him apart.

Al Nassr’s wait for a trophy alongside their talisman continues but as Ronaldo keeps finding new ways to make history, his pursuit of that elusive piece of silverware is guaranteed to remain one of football’s most compelling storylines.
