Mohamed Salah dropped a bombshell about his Liverpool future after the club were held to a 3-3 draw by Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday. Salah accused the club of throwing him under the bus and admitted that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has completely broken down, hinting that he may leave the club by the end of the current season.

Salah's comments came while speaking to reporters after Leeds came from behind to draw against Liverpool at Elland Road. The Egyptian forward was reduced to the bench by Slot as Liverpool's slump continued in the ongoing season. The visitors took a two-goal lead in the second half courtesy of a brace from Hugo Ekitike. However, Leeds managed to equalise with the help of goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach inside two minutes.

Liverpool seemed to have sealed the game when Dominik Szoboszlai scored in the 80th minute to put them back in the lead at 3-2. However, a late equaliser from Ao Tanaka in the stoppage time ensured Leeds United secured a valuable point from the game. Salah was an unused sub in the game, marking his third straight game where he has started on the bench for Liverpool this season.

After the game, Salah, who has played a vital role in Liverpool's success over the last few years, told reporters that he feels the club have thrown him under the bus amid their dismal campaign in the ongoing season. The Egyptian forward also revealed his relationship with Slot has broken down.

"I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don't have any relationship," Salah said after the 3-3 draw against Leeds United.

"I don't know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame," he added in a surprising display of public outrage amid his strained relationship with Slot.

I don't think I am the problem: Mohamed Salah

Despite having signed a new two-year contract at Liverpool in April this year, Salah admitted he was unsure about his future at the club. The star forward, who was the top scorer in the Premier League last season, helping Liverpool win the title, said his current situation at the club is not acceptable for him, and he doesn't believe he is the problem.

"This club, I will always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will. It [the situation] is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don't get it. It's like I'm being thrown more under the bus. I don't think I'm the problem. I have done so much for this club," said Salah

Salah, who signed for Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has been one of their best players since arriving at the club. He has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the club across competitions and has played an instrumental role in Liverpool's success over the last few years. The 33-year-old scored an impressive 29 goals in the Premier League 2024-25 season to help Slot win the title in his first year at the club.

However, Salah's form has dipped this season as Liverpool continue to struggle in the Premier League. He has managed only 4 goals in 13 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League this season. According to the BBC, Liverpool remain open-minded about Salah's future and might consider selling him if an appropriate offer is made for the star forward.
