New Delhi: Kylian Mbappe has been in sensational form for Real Madrid since joining the Spanish club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2024. The France international is currently the highest goal-scorer in La Liga, netting 16 goals so far.

He has been a crucial player for Los Blancos in front of the goal, scoring nine goals for the club in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), which is the most by any player. The 26-year-old forward led the club to a stunning 3-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao, netting two goals.

He is on the verge of breaking another massive record for the club before the end of the year. Mbappe has scored 55 goals for Real Madrid in 2025 so far, and needs just four goals to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo's record of 59, which is the most by any player for the Spanish Club in a calendar year.

Real Madrid will next face Celta Vigo in La Liga on December 8, and the forward still has three matches remaining in all competitions after that to register his name in elite list as Los Blancos will take on Manchester City, Alaves and Sevilla in 2025.

'Kylian is on his way to making history at Real Madrid': Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso lauded Kylian Mbappe and said that the forward is on his way to make history for the club, just like Cristiano did.

"With his ambition, his statistics... he's among a chosen few. Working with him on a daily basis is great. His desire to influence others, his contagious energy, is something he shares with Cristiano. There, I see similarities," Alonso said in the press conference.

Alonso refused to pick between Mbappe and former teammate Ronaldo if he had to choose, saying that they both are exceptional players, and they're lucky to have Kylian in the team.

Los Blancos will face Celta with no specialist right back, after Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Dani Carvajal as a long-term absentee this week. Alonso added that they'll have to assess what decision they take, but there are other options.

"Fede always puts the team first ... I remember great games he's had against Barça, Juve. He's generous and wants to help the team," he added.

The victory against Athletic Bilbao relieved some pressure on Alonso, after the club's last three previous league matches ended in draws.
