Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi scripted history by becoming the first-ever footballer to record 1300 goal contributions in his career after scoring and assisting thrice in his side's 4-0 win over FC Cincinnati.
Argentina legend Lionel Messi created history by becoming the first footballer in the world to reach 1300 goal contributions in his career. Messi, an ageless wonder who continues to wow fans with his skills and remarkable performances at 38, achieved the massive feat after scoring one and providing three assists in Inter Miami's 4-0 win over FC Cincinnati to power them to their maiden Eastern Conference final.
Messi now has an incredible 896 goals and 404 assists to his name, making him the footballer with the highest goal contribution in the recorded history of the game. The Inter Miami superstar was without a goal in his last three games against FC Cincinnati, however, he ended the drought with a stellar show against the club on Sunday.
Messi opened the scoring for Inter Miami in the 19th minute to give them the lead in the all-important semi-final clash against Cincinnati. He then assisted Mateo Silvetti, who doubled Inter Miami's lead in the 57th minute. Messi produced two more assists to help Tadeo Allende complete his brace as Inter Miami wrapped a thumping 4-0 win to enter the Eastern Conference final for the first time in the club's history.
With an impressive four-goal contributions in the game, Messi became the first footballer to reach the elusive milestone of 133 goal contributions. He also equalled the legendary Ferenc Puskás' record for the most assists in football history.
