Man United to miss Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui for Brentford clash, says Amorim
Man United face Brentford without key duo Diallo and Mazraoui as Amorim prioritizes player recovery and support ahead of the weekend clash.
New Delhi: Manchester United will be without forward Amad Diallo and defender Noussair Mazraoui for their Premier League trip to Brentford on Saturday. Diallo has been excused from the game following a family bereavement with the club prioritising his well-being over football at this time.
United head coach Ruben Amorim stressed the importance of supporting the young Ivory Coast international during this difficult period. "We are giving all the support to Amad. The next game is not important,” he said. Diallo has been involved in all six of United’s matches so far this season, starting five times in either the number 10 role or at right wing-back.
Amad had recently faced criticism on social media over his interaction with former teammate Alejandro Garnacho who left United amid tension after joining Chelsea. The forward subsequently deleted posts from his Instagram and X accounts. Amorim addressed the matter, urging players to stay away from social media distractions. "It’s like that nowadays. It’s a price you have to pay. The important thing is the club and his friends are real life for Amad. We are here for him,” he said.
Mazraoui ruled out, Mbeumo returns
Noussair Mazraoui will also miss the Brentford trip due to a minor issue sustained during the win over Chelsea. Amorim does not expect the Morocco international to return until mid-October. United will need to adapt without both players as they face a Brentford side featuring striker Bryan Mbeumo who is returning to his former club for the first time after leaving west London in the summer.
Amorim acknowledged the challenge of managing the squad amid these absences. "We can win without Amad, and we also want to win for him,” he said. Despite the disruptions, the Portuguese manager is determined to maintain focus and approach each match as a fresh opportunity.
Looking ahead
The United boss also addressed the uncertainty surrounding team selection and fan expectations. "It’s normal that the fans don’t know what is going to happen in the next game. To be honest, I have an idea but I don’t know how it’s going to be and I’m the manager of the team,” he admitted. He stressed the need to treat each game as crucial, aiming to build consistency and regain fan trust. "The best way of dealing with that is to approach every game like it’s the last one,” he said.
With a challenging fixture ahead and two key players unavailable, United will have to rely on the rest of their squad to deliver a performance that keeps them competitive in the Premier League. Well, how the Red Devils will respond in Brentford could set the tone for the rest of the campaign under Amorim’s guidance.
