Portugal, France, England win to close in on World Cup spot

New Delhi: Harry Kane scored his record-extending 74th international goal as England crushed Serbia 5-0 to take a giant step towards automatic qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

England have won all their five Group K matches ta have a maximum 15 points and were at their fluent best after labouring to a 2-0 home win over Andorra on Saturday.

"It’s never easy once you fall behind, and we showed a lot of character, just like against Germany and Spain (in the Nations League) in June when we were losing but managed to come back," said Bernardo Silva.

"Today, once again against a tough team, we managed to come back. Even when they scored after 80-something minutes, we still managed to score the winner."

Mbappe leads France

Kylian Mbappe scored a goal and created another as France came from behind to beat Iceland 2-1 to maintain their perfect start in Group D with two wins out of two matches.

The group winners qualify directly while the runners-up go into a playoff.
