New Delhi: Real Madrid qualified for the final of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the semifinal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. But the match result was overshadowed by a touchline clash between Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. and Atletico manager Simeone.

The match was played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Federico Valverde and Rodrygo scored early goals as Real Madrid took early control of the match. Atletico pulled one back through a header from Alexander Sorloth, but the Los Blancos held on to secure the win and set up a Super Cup final clash with Barcelona.

The controversy happened when Vincius was substituted in the 81st minute of the match. The cameras captured Simeone saying something to the Brazilian winger as he walked off the pitch, reportedly telling him: "Florentino is going to kick you out,".

The exchange unfolded in front of thousands of fans and drew quick reactions from both benches. Vinicius was animated in response and was later also shown a yellow card as emotions ran high.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso intervened and was displeased with the Atletico manager's conduct. After the match, Alonso did not hold back and said that he didn't like it all, and Simeone crossed the line.

"I heard what Simeone said to Vini, and I didn’t like it. You cannot talk like that, some things cross the line. It’s unacceptable and it’s a lack of fair play," Alonso said.

Speculation around Vinicius' future at Real Madrid has resurfaced in recent months, with reports emerging that the forward might move to the Premier League. However, Real Madrid officials have consistently denied all the reports. The incident has sparked a massive reaction on social media.

Real Madrid will now take on Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday, January 11.
