We have to fight together: Arne Slot vows to turn Liverpools slump in form
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has said that his team will continue to fight despite their poor run of form in recent matches.
New Delhi: Liverpool manager Arne Slot sent a strong message amid the club's poor run and said that his team will turn around their form ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham United on Sunday, November 30. The Reds have lost nine of their last twelve games across all competitions. The club's poor form has raised the prospect of dropping as low as 14th in the league standings, a scenario not seen for decades.
The loss against PSV in the Champions League further deepens the struggle of the defending Premier League champions. Head coach Slot admitted that he struggled to sleep after the latest defeat. Speaking ahead of Sunday's game, he said that his side isn't playing to their strengths, and the standards of the team have also dropped.
"Last season when we did really well, there was a lot of focus on certain individuals and I always said it should be about the team and the team makes the individuals look very good," Slot said ahead of the West Ham clash.
'No matter how difficult it is, we have to fight together'
There has been a lot of talk about Slot's future in the club, but he insisted that the conversation with the owners remained the same. The Liverpool manager said that they try to find the answer to what is needed to win a game of football, and keep fighting.
"No matter how difficult it is, we have to fight together. There's always pressure. But there was a lot of pressure last season as well for us to win the league. Now it's a different kind of pressure because we've lost so many games, more than I, or a club like this, is used to," he added.
Slot said that he is expecting a tough fight from the Hammers, who have improved since Nuno Espirito Santo took charge. Liverpool is currently placed 12th in the Premier League points table with 18 points in 12 games.
