Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been one of the most sought-after players in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Maxwell made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2012 but enjoyed his breakthrough season for Punjab Kings in 2014. Maxwell smashed 552 runs in IPL 2014 to power Punjab Kings into their only final but failed to inspire them to glory.

After his sensational heroics for Punjab Kings (PBKS)  in IPL 2024, Maxwell became a household name in the league and went on to play for several franchises. He was roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of IPL 2021 and spent four seasons with them. Maxwell is set to return to Punjab Kings in the upcoming season.

It will be a homecoming for the star Aussie all-rounder, who was bought for Rs 4.20 crore by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. The demand for Maxwell went down last year after he failed to impress for RCB in IPL 2024 with an abysmal 58 runs in 10 matches. However, Maxwell will be aiming to prove his worth again at PBKS next season.

Despite his inconsistencies being the highlight of his IPL career so far, Maxwell has mostly been among the top earners in the league whenever he has played. Multiple teams have placed trust in the Aussie all-rounder, considering his exceptional all-round skills and ability to decimate any bowling attack single-handedly on his day.

Maxwell started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals in 2012 after getting picked up by the franchise for Rs 6 crore. He played only two matches in his debut season and 3 matches in the following season for the Mumbai Indians after being let go of by DC. He was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 6 crore in 2014 and enjoyed a remarkable season with over 500 runs.

Maxwell spent four seasons with Punjab before returning to Delhi Capitals for Rs 9 crore in IPL 2018. Maxwell didn't take part in IPL 2019 and was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 10.75 crore for IPL 2020. He was released once again ahead of IPL 2021 and was sold to RCB for a whopping Rs 14.25 crore. Maxwell was later retained by RCB ahead of IPL 2022 for Rs 11 crore.

Maxwell's current IPL salary is Rs 4.20 crore - the sum that Punjab Kings paid to sign him at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. Maxwell has suffered a massive pay cut as he was earning Rs 11 crore with RCB till last season.
