IPL 2015 Orange Cap and Purple Cap winners
Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs in the final to win the IPL 2015 title. Dwyane Bravo bagged the purple cap to play a key role in helping CSK reach the final.
Mumbai Indians (MI) staged a remarkable turnaround to lift their second Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2015. Legendary Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Maling played a key role in MI's title triumph with 24 wickets from 15 matches. However, he failed to win the Purple Cap that season and was pipped by former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.
Bravo enjoyed a stellar season for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), picking up 26 wickets in 17 matches to finish as the highest wicket-taker. He played a key role in helping CSK reach the final of the tournament where they lost to Mumbai Indians to miss out on their third title. Malinga finished second on the list of the top wicket-takers in IPL 2015.
Australia batter David Warner won the Orange Cap in IPL 2015 after a terrific season with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). It was Warner's first season as captain for the Sunrisers and he led from the front with the bat to enjoy a memorable season. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to qualify for the playoffs despite Warner's prolific run.
IPL 2015 Orange Cap winner - David Warner
David Warner won the Orange Cap in IPL 2015 for being the highest run-getter of the season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Warner started the season with a half-century against Chennai Super Kings in a losing cause and there was no looking back as he went on to notch up 562 runs in 14 matches at an average of 43.23 and an impressive strike rate of 156.64.
Warner slammed seven half-centuries in IPL 2015 and his best performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he slammed 91 runs off 55 balls. Warner's 91 helped SRH post 176 runs on the board, batting first against KKR, helping them win the game by 16 runs via DLS method. It was Warner's first Orange Cap in the IPL and he became the 4th Australian to bag the elusive prize after Shaun Marsh, Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey.
IPL 2015 Purple Cap winner - Dwayne Bravo
Unlike the Orange Cap winner, Dwayne Bravo, who won the Purple Cap for being the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2015, was from Chennai Super Kings, who played the final. Bravo weaved his magic with the ball throughout the season as his variations and slower ones combined with his accurate yorkers did wonders for CSK.
Bravo finished with 26 wickets from 16 innings at an average of 16.38 and an economy rate of 8.14 to finish as the highest wicket-taker and bag the Purple Cap. It was Bravo's second Purple Cap for CSK having won it in IPL 2013 when he picked up a staggering 32 wickets in 18 matches. Bravo became the first bowler in IPL history to win the Purple Cap twice, a feat only matched by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2016, 2017).
