Ishan Kishan IPL salary and year-wise auction price
Take a look at Ishan Kishan's IPL salary and year-wise auction price.
The talented wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is among the very few players who have shown immense improvement and growth since his debut in the IPL. Since making his debut for Gujarat Lions back in 2016, Kishan has become a key player for the Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians. He played a crucial role for MI in their title-winning campaign in the IPL 2019 and 2020.
Gujarat Lions bought Ishan Kishan in the IPL 2016 auction and retained him the following year. He was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the 2018 auction and he had a great first season with MI where he scored 275 runs at a strike rate of 150.
The 2019 IPL season was his worst where he only managed to score 101 runs across 7 matches but MI showed faith in Kishan and retained him for the 2020 season which proved to be excellent for the wicketkeeper-batter where he scored 516 runs and was the highest run-scorer for the franchise. He also won the award for smashing the most sixes during the IPL 2020 season.
His most remarkable knock was against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) where he scored 99 runs off 58 balls to help the franchise reach the super over in a high-scoring chase but they failed to win that match. Ahead of the 2022 IPL, Kishan was bought again by Mumbai Indians and the franchise also retained him in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
He made his international debut in March 2021 against England. Kishan was part of India's squad for the 2023 Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. He was a part of the Grade C list in the BCCI contract last year and used to get an annual salary of Rs 1 Crore. But he was not retained by the BCCI for 2024-25 despite a sensational performance in 2023. Kishan also hasn’t played any match for the Indian Cricket team after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Ishan Kishan IPL salary
From being roped in by Gujarat Lions for his base price of Rs 35 lakh in 2016, Kishan has made big jumps as he took his salary from lakhs to multiple crores just after two seasons. Mumbai Indians bought Kishan for Rs 6.2 Cr in the IPL 2018 and retained him for the following three seasons. He was bought again by the Mumbai-based franchise for Rs 15.25 Cr, making him the second-most expensive Indian player at the auction after Yuvraj Singh.
On the back of his stunning performances for MI, SRH hired his services for Rs 11.25 crore for the 2025 season. Kishan did not have the best of the seasons in his second year as a Mumbai Indians player but the franchise constantly backed him and he also delivered for them in the crucial matches. Apart from the 2019 edition of the league, Kishan has performed brilliantly for both franchises.
