New Delhi: India's no. 1-ranked doubles player, Yuki Bhambri, and veteran Rohan Bopanna are set to represent India at the US Open 2025.
Bhambri reunites with New Zealand's Michael Venus, while Bopanna teams up with Monaco's Romain Arnedo for the US Open campaign.
In Wimbledon 2025, Bhambri and his partner Robert Galloway were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. After the early exit from Wimbledon, Bhambri parted ways with Galloway and joined hands with Venus.
In their last outing at Winston-Salem Open, the Indo-Kiwi pair was knocked out in the semi-final and now look to make a mark in the season's last Grand Slam. Bhambri's former partner, Galloway, also formed a new team with Alexander Erler in the US Open.
Bhambri and Venus, seeded 14th, will face a tough challenge from talented young stars, Marcos Giron and Learner Tien (who faced Novak Djokovic in the singles first round at the US Open) in the opening round. Giron and Tien formed a team just before the tournament started.
Meanwhile, Bopanna and Arnodo have played just one tournament together, with the US Open being their second event as a pair. They will take on the American duo of Robert Cash and JJ Tracy in the first round on Friday.
Bopanna was knocked out in the first round at Wimbledon. In two out of three Grand Slam competitions of 2025, the Bengaluru star crashed out in the first round.
Apart from these two Indian stars, N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli will face American Vasil Kirkov and Dutch Bart Stevens in the first round.
Arjun Kadhe will be another Indian representative at Flushing Meadows. The 31-year-old doubles specialist will be in action alongside his Ecuadorian partner Diego Hidalgo, and the duo will face the second-seeded pair of Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Croatia's Mate Pavic in the first round.
