Apple iPhone 17 Pro expected to start at 256GB storage, says leak
The iPhone 17 Pro may launch with 256GB base storage, aligning it with the Pro Max model. A $50 price increase is expected across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
The next Apple model, the iPhone 17 Pro, could see an improvement of base storage to a significantly high 256GB, as sources have predicted an eventual leak on the Chinese Weibo platform. The leaker called Instant Digital says the switch could coincide with a price bump of $50 on the entire iPhone 17 product range, which may see the base memory size on the Pro version match the one of the current Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max start at 128GB and 256GB with a price of $999 and $1199, respectively. At 256GB, an increased starting capacity also promotes a fairer deal because it would be the same as the Pro Max in terms of storage, but the price jump would not be as hard.
iPhone 17 series price (expected)
The base iPhone 17 line, which is likely to include the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, could have prices of $849, $949, $1,049, and $1,249, respectively. Apple does not make the predictions;investment firm Jefferies previously reported Apple is considering adjusting prices due to increased cost of components and continued tariffs in China.
Storage bump cause price increase
Apple could provide better value to consumers by offering them larger storage in the iPhone 17 Pro range and simplify the products through a narrower range. Industry observers suspect that the company will couple this storage increment with design improvements and new features in justifying the increase in price, a prospect also hinted at in a May report by The Wall Street Journal.
The debut of the iPhone 17 series will probably occur on the 9th of September 2022, which is in line with Apple releases in the fall. Nothing is conclusive as yet, but anticipations are growing that the new models will be accompanied by a price restructuring and significant enhancements to hardware as well.
