New Delhi: The ElevenLabs have introduced their new music project, The Eleven Album, which was developed through their generative AI model, Eleven Music, in partnership with some of the world-renowned artists. It also was released as one of the most visible experiments to date in the mass collaboration of artists and AI, combining human creativity with machine-assisted composition across various genres.

The album features Grammy-winning artists, radio hits, film music, and world music, uniting the voices of producers, chart-toppers, and emerging artists. Every song is completely original and published on the personal streams of the artists, which means that the ownership and regulation of revenues will belong to the creators.

The Eleven Album is composed with the original music of a rich mix of performers, such as Liza Minnelli, Art Garfunkel, Patrick Patrikios, King Willonius, IAMSU!, Demitri Leiros, Emily Falvey, Sunsetto, KondZilla, Chris Lyons, and Michael Feinstein.

Kai and Angelbaby are also AI-native artists who are part of the project, demonstrating the desire of ElevenLabs to present both the older and newer voices of creativity. The sum total of the contributors is billions of streams, decades of cultural impact, and world touring histories.

How artists used Eleven Music

Eleven Music collaborated with artists in various ways. Others utilised the model to come up with complete compositions as artistic embryonic beginnings. Other artists were trying new styles or accelerating the creation process with AI. It can be edited in a granular manner with regard to the lyrics, timing and instrumentation, and the studio-quality stems can be downloaded to be mixed further.

ElevenLabs argued that it was not aimed at automation but augmentation. According to the company, the model is aimed at helping the artists and maintaining full authorship, consent, and commercial rights.

Liza Minnelli and Art Garfunkel on AI collaboration

Minnelli has presented her work, a song in EDM, Kids Wait Till You Hear This, which is not an AI version of her voice but her original one. The 79-year-old actor said in a statement that the project interested her as it did not abuse artistic ownership and creative will. She stressed that the technology was to be used as a means of expression and not as a substitute for it.

Authorship by Garfunkel is performed in the style of spoken word superimposed on piano and background noise. According to the singer-songwriter, the process was an extension of a long relationship between music and technology, and the human voice was at the centre of it.

Each of the artists involved distributed their songs on their platform so that streaming leads to the direct collection of revenues. ElevenLabs explains that such an arrangement is based on its overall vision of creator control and equitable payment. Both Minnelli and Garfunkel also belong to the Iconic Voice Marketplace of the company, where AI-generated voices of celebrities are licensed with permission.

ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski described the album as a landmark in the collaboration of artists and AI. The drop coincides with recent efforts with music rights organisations, and as the company keeps growing in its role in the future of AI-assisted music creation, there are also high levels of interest among investors.
