New Delhi: Netflix officially confirmed that FIFA is going to Netflix Games before the FIFA World Cup 2026. It was announced at the latest updates of Netflix Tudum and indicates that the streaming giant pushing into sports gaming is a significant one. The new title should make the World Cup fun and direct Netflix subscribers to an interactive football experience.
Its next game will be available in summer 2026, when the World Cup will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Netflix Games will be available only to Netflix and at no additional fee to subscribers. This action puts Netflix in direct rivalry with the old-fashioned sports gaming sites as well as diversifying the way fans watch football.
It is being developed and published together with Delphi Interactive. It is the first FIFA game to be released after FIFA terminated its long-standing relationship with EA Sports. This change provides FIFA with the autonomy to test new platforms and formats.
The Netflix FIFA title is a very user-friendly title, as opposed to the classic and console-orientated football games. Players can also enter fast and play the game at a fast speed without a very steep learning curve.
The game will be available on mobile platforms; smartphones will be used as controllers. Netflix also plans to allow players to play directly on the TVs in the selected regions via its gaming interface. The solo play as well as the online play with multiple players should be available.
According to Netflix Games President Alain Tascan, the World Cup will be one of the largest cultural events in 2026. He added that the game should make the fans feel in touch with the sport. FIFA President Gianni Infantino termed the alliance as a historic move to touch billions of fans all over the world.
Although the actual name of the game and its release date are still kept, the initial information implies that the game is more entertaining and aimed at the masses than a comprehensive simulation. This may appeal to the recreational players who do not play the conventional football games.
The game will be readily available and free of charge to users of Netflix who are also football fans in Malaysia. Netflix is now under the spotlight as its fans keenly anticipate the way FIFA enters its new digital era.
