New Delhi: Anthropic and Google officially partnered on clouds with a tens of billions of dollars valuation. The acquisition provides Anthropic with a potential of up to one million custom-designed Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) in Google and is the biggest such commitment of TPUs by the company to date. The contract will see more than one gigawatt of AI compute capacity go online in 2026 and will support the rapidly growing Anthropic revenue run rate of $7 billion.
The collaboration indicates how Anthropic takes scaling its AI architecture. The company is led by former OpenAI researchers and has emphasised more on consistent expansion and enterprise usage as opposed to hyped declarations. Its Claude language models have more than 300,000 businesses today, and its revenue has grown due to its products such as Claude Code, which brought in 500 million in annualised revenue in less than two months of inception.
The new TPU access by Anthropic enhances the multi-cloud architecture that incorporates Amazon Trainium chips and Nvidia GPUs. TPUs of Google deal with special workloads, which the company defines as powerful price-performance and efficiency. Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao said that the collaboration would assist the company in defining the frontier of AI, as well as be flexible across cloud providers.
The multi-cloud strategy adopted by Anthropic guarantees efficiency and resilience. Recently, AWS had a downturn, but Claude was not affected by it because of its diversified configuration. Although Amazon is still the biggest cloud partner and investor of Anthropic, Google is vital in the expansion of computers. The company has complete control over the model weights, pricing and customer data and is not exclusive to any particular cloud provider. Analysts observe that such a balanced approach puts Anthropic in a position to take advantage of the capabilities of various hyperscalers as AI usage gains momentum.
