New Delhi: Google has introduced a significant change to their Veo 3.1 model of video generation that allows native vertical video and smarter video creation of images. The upgrade will enable creators to use it with minimal effort to create clips to be placed on platforms such as YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok without the need to do any form of video cropping or reformatting.
The update is better at following instructions and reference images of Veo 3.1. Google claims that users can now obtain more precise results without the long prompts, and it is now quicker to transform a mere thought and an image into a full-fledged and narrative video.
The upgrade will be core to Google and its feature of Ingredients to Video. This application allows the user to input one or more reference images and prompt the AI using a brief text. Veo 3.1 will then create the video with those images as characters, objects or scenes.
Google has enhanced the comprehension of these inputs in the model. It is now possible to get a video with better dialogue, clearer storytelling, and more scenes with natural flow even with little prompts. This fact implies that creators do not have to compose long descriptions of instructions before they achieve the desired outcome.
Better Character and Scene Consistency
Visual consistency is one of the largest enhancements. The characters are no longer changing faces, style, and appearance in a clip. This is also the case where many videos are collaged together in order to make a longer narrative.
The backgrounds, objects, and textures also remain unchanged from one scene to another. This facilitates the use of the same setting or props in two or more shots, which makes videos appear finer and more related.
Native Support for Vertical Videos
Veo 3.1 now supports the 9:16 vertical format by default. This allows creators to generate videos that are ready for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok without losing quality or having to crop the frame.
Google is also improving visual quality. The model now offers better 1080p output and a new 4K upscaling option for creators who want to export videos for larger screens.
Where Veo 3.1 Is Available
The upgraded “Ingredients to Video” feature is rolling out to YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app. It is available to everyday users through the Gemini app.
For businesses and developers, Veo 3.1 can be accessed via the Flow app, the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Google Vids. However, Google Vids currently does not support 1080p or 4K video exports.
