Perplexity and OpenTable partner for easy AI-powered restaurant bookings
Perplexity and OpenTable have partnered to enable AI-powered restaurant reservations, allowing users to book tables through simple voice or text queries. The integration streamlines dining by connecting Perplexity's conversational AI with OpenTable's vast network of 60,000 restaurants.
Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, has partnered with OpenTable, which allows users to book restaurant tables right in the platform. Through this partnership, diners will be able to make reservations by just asking Perplexity in natural language. There is no need to use several apps or websites. One can easily locate and book a table in any of the 60,000 restaurants in the world when using OpenTable. The integration would make the dining process more efficient in terms of saving time and minimising the hassle to the user.
The collaboration uses Perplexity conversational AI to interpret more specific food requests, such as requesting romantic Italian food in San Francisco or a place with delicious vegan food. After selecting their preferences, Perplexity taps into the large network of OpenTable and allows users to make their reservations with a single click. The step is a sign of the integration of AI into our daily lives to make restaurant booking processes easier and more automated.
A seamless dining experience
Perplexity is not a simple restaurant listing; its AI produces results that suit the needs of the user. Need outdoor seating or a child-friendly menu? Just ask. It reads the data of OpenTable, which contains menus and reviews, to give proper recommendations. Once a restaurant is chosen, a user can find a button labelled as Reserve to make the booking immediately. This eliminates the irritation of having to alternate apps or reading through the unending reviews. According to Sagar Mehta, CTO of OpenTable, through integration, it is easy to establish a connection between the millions of Perplexity users and their international network, which makes the dining choice simple.
Saving time for diners and restaurants
The collaboration is advantageous to both the restaurants and the diners. In some cases, studies have found that 54 per cent of Americans research restaurants online before making a reservation, and 27 per cent of customers bounce when information is difficult to locate. The AI of perplexity decreases this friction by responding to questions promptly and correctly. In the case of restaurants, fewer missed calls and increased reservations. Information in OpenTable indicates that 46 per cent of diner questions relate to hours and 39 per cent to menu-related questions, which are all questions that Perplexity can answer immediately. This relieves restaurant personnel to concentrate on service.
The future of AI in dining
Perplexity and OpenTable are going to increase this functionality. Additional features to be added in the future can be personalised suggestions on the basis of eating history or even automated reservations. The collaboration is part of a larger trend in which AI is making ordinary chores easier. According to Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, the integration allows people to enjoy going out to eat as much as asking a friend what to order. The two are bound to transform the way individuals organise their dinners with the help of the powerful network of OpenTable and the AI of Perplexity.
