Reliance AGM 2025: Mukesh Ambani launches Reliance Intelligence with Google and Meta AI partnerships
At Reliance AGM 2025, Mukesh Ambani announced Reliance Intelligence, a new AI subsidiary focused on infrastructure, services, and talent. Backed by partnerships with Google and Meta, the company will build gigawatt-scale AI data centres in Jamnagar, deliver open-source AI models to Indian enterprises, and create sovereign AI solutions for sectors like healthcare, education, and agriculture.
New Delhi: Reliance Industries has taken a bold leap into artificial intelligence with the announcement of Reliance Intelligence, a new subsidiary aimed at building India’s AI backbone. The move was unveiled during the 48th Annual General Meeting held on August 29, 2025, where Mukesh Ambani outlined an ambitious vision for AI to power Reliance’s next decade of growth.
The announcement also saw participation from global tech leaders. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared their support, underlining the scale of partnerships that will shape Reliance’s AI future. Together, these collaborations could position India as a serious player in the global AI economy.
Reliance Intelligence: four clear goals
Mukesh Ambani described Reliance Intelligence as a wholly-owned subsidiary with four missions:
- Build gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, powered by Reliance’s green energy, to handle large-scale training and inference.
- Establish global partnerships with tech giants and open-source communities for performance and compliance.
- Deliver AI services for India across education, healthcare, agriculture, and small businesses.
- Create a hub for AI talent, combining research speed with engineering rigour to build products at scale.
Ambani said Jio transformed India’s digital economy in less than a decade and Reliance Intelligence will now aim to do the same with AI.
Google partnership: Jamnagar cloud region
Google CEO Sundar Pichai called India a "special place” and credited Reliance with helping millions of Indians access affordable internet. He highlighted the next leap with AI, announcing a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region powered by clean energy from Reliance and connected by Jio’s network.
Pichai said, "The AI opportunity in India is extraordinary. It will transform every industry and organisation – from the largest enterprises to the smallest kirana store.”
As Reliance’s largest public cloud partner, Google Cloud will power mission-critical workloads and co-develop advanced AI services for businesses across telecom, retail, energy, and financial services.
Meta partnership: open-source AI and superintelligence
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the collaboration with Reliance as a step toward delivering personal superintelligence. He said, "Meta and Reliance are going to deliver our open-source AI models to Indian businesses to help them fuel their work. With Llama, we have seen how AI can amplify human potential.”
Zuckerberg stressed that the partnership will allow Llama models to reach businesses of all sizes, from start-ups in small towns to large enterprises in major cities. He added that this venture could become a model for how AI and eventually superintelligence can be delivered to everyone.
What this means for India
The creation of Reliance Intelligence marks one of the biggest private sector commitments to AI infrastructure in India. With gigawatt-scale data centres, sovereign hosting, and partnerships with Google and Meta, Reliance is preparing for a decade where AI could redefine everything from farming to factories.
Ambani noted that Reliance is also investing in humanoid robotics, with the goal of making India a leader in AI-powered automation.
The initiative echoes how Reliance Jio disrupted telecom in the last decade. This time, the target is AI, not just for consumers, but for enterprises and critical national sectors.
