Samsung to host Galaxy unpacked event on Sep 4, days ahead of Apple iPhone 17 launch

Samsung has confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event for September 4, just days before Apple unveils the iPhone 17 series. The showcase is expected to highlight the Galaxy S25 FE alongside a new Galaxy Tab, with leaks hinting at premium specs and faster charging.

While speculation about a tri-fold foldable continues, the device is unlikely to debut at this virtual event.

Samsung has declared a new Galaxy Unpacked event, which will be held on September 4, only 5 days before the iPhone 17 series release by Apple, on September 9. The timeframe is an indication of an overheated beginning of September, and both tech giants are coming up with big reveals. The livestream will start at 3 PM IST, and it is strategically placed before the IFA 2025 technology fair in Berlin, where several consumer electronics are normally launched.

Although Samsung has not announced the entire list of products on display at the event, the company in its teaser confirms the pre-reservations of a new Galaxy Tab are available already. It has been rumoured that the showcase may also feature the long-awaited Galaxy S25 FE, a device that has been a buzzword in recent rumours out of South Korea.

Galaxy S25 FE likely on the cards

According to reports, Galaxy S25 FE will be the main highlight of the September 4 event. The anticipated features are a Samsung Exynos 2400 processor, a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus, and a triple-camera setup which will use a 50MP primary sensor. It can also store a 4,500mAh battery with 45W fast-charging and 15W wireless-charging capacity. Assuming this is true, this would be launched sooner than last year’s S24 FE, which was launched towards the end of September.

What about the Tri-Fold Foldable?

There has been a buzz around a Samsung tri-fold foldable phone that is a product the company has been hinting at during the recent earnings call. Analysts are, however, of the opinion that the device will not be on display at this virtual event since Samsung usually unveils the most experimental of its designs during larger, more physical expos.

As Apple will unveil iPhone 17 on September 9, the early action of Samsung seems to have been aimed at capturing the attention of the consumers before its competitor. It is evident that the two firms are poised to engage in a fierce competition, and September is the key month in the smartphone battle around the world.
