Samsung trolls Apple after iPhone 17 reveal with savage foldable taunt

Samsung mocked Apple on X after the iPhone 17 unveiling, highlighting its foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a viral #iCant post. The iPhone 17 Air, Apple's thinnest phone at 5.6mm, drew praise but no foldable tech.

At launch, English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish will be supported, with more languages coming later this year.

After the Apple iPhone 17 series was launched at the Apple event Awe Dropping on September 9, 2025, Samsung took a chance to make fun of Apple. The tech giant also launched four new models, among them being the smooth iPhone 17 Air, which is touted as the thinnest phone in the history of Apple at just 5.6 millimetres. A snappy response by Samsung through a social media post soon countered their arch rivalry. The jab emphasised the technology of foldable phones of Samsung, which Apple has not been able to compete with.

The trolling was through an X post by Samsung Mobile US that quoted a 2022 tweet that had the message, "Let us know when it folds.” The new caption was to be inserted, and it was as follows: "#iCant believe this is still relevant.” The video became viral and attracted the attention of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has advanced AI capabilities and a foldable design. Both fans and critics overwhelmed social media with responses, some applauding the wit of Samsung, others defending the innovativeness of Apple. This recent tussle reminds us of the intense rivalry between the two technology powerhouses.

The post on X by Samsung created a hype on the internet as it gathered thousands of likes and retweets in hours. The hashtag #iCant was trending on Twitter as people explained the superiority or inferiority of foldable phones against that of the smooth but conventional form of Apple. Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has a 12.4-inch display and exploits AI, was directly posed against the iPhone 17 Air. According to industry analysts, the trolling by Samsung is a strategic one to emphasise its foldable technology that Apple cannot keep up with until 2026.

Apple’s iPhone 17 Air steals the show

The iPhone 17 line, especially the Air, was applauded because of its 5.6-millimetre thinness and A19 Pro chip. It is priced at $999 with the 256GB version, and it provides MacBook Pro performance in a phone. It comes in four colours, including Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. It also supports eSIM and the new C1X modem by Apple. Regardless of the jabs, iPhone 17 enthusiasts were imbued with the innovative design and camera improvements, such as 8K video capability on the Pro models.

The rivalry between Samsung and Apple is not new since 2011, when Samsung parodied the long lines in the Apple stores. The latest advertisements, such as the Samsung The Real Upgrade, have focused on the unavailability of a foldable phone and an AI in Apple. In the meantime, Apple is reportedly collaborating with Samsung Display on a foldable iPhone by the year 2026. As of now, the trolling between Samsung and the other company makes the discussion relatively engaging, as both manufacturers challenge one another to become more innovative.
