Telegram launches passkeys and scam-free gift buying features for users
Telegram has rolled out a new update introducing passkeys for faster and more secure logins without SMS codes. The platform has also added scam-protected gift purchase offers to make digital transactions safer.
New Delhi: Telegram has announced a new platform update after giving emphasis on stronger security, safer digital transactions and an easier way to create content. The social messaging application with more than one billion users all over the world is launching passkey-logins, secure gift purchasing deals, and an easier method to add audio to the Stories.
The update is indicative of an increased focus on the user trust and convenience at Telegram. The company will make the daily interaction on the app a safer and more expressive experience by lessening the use of SMS codes and augmenting security measures around digital collectibles and enhancing creative tools.
Passkeys enable faster and more secure logins
Passkeys are supported by Telegram and the user can immediately log in through device-based authentication, such as fingerprints, Face ID, or device PIN. This eliminates the use of verification codes in SMS once, which can not work when travelling or when the network is not available.
Every passkey is encrypted by keys that are stored on the computer of the user and they may be integrated with password managers such as iCloud Keychain and Google Password Manager. The feature can be activated by users by going to Settings Privacy and Security Passkeys. Telegram recommends that people should have a phone with them that is attached to their account in case of an emergency.
Scam-protected gift purchase offers introduced
The platform has also implemented secure gift purchase offers as a way of minimizing fraud in digital gift purchase. Direct offers have become possible where a user can make direct offers to purchase gifts shown on the profile of another user either using Stars or TON.
Every offer has its own price that is customized and a time restriction and the funds are securely kept until the time of the offer. In case of rejection or lapse of time of an offer, a refund is automatic. Gift owners are able to compare the offers with the estimated value and once the confirmation is received the gift is transferred immediately.
Audio sharing in stories made simpler
Telegram has simplified the process of adding audio to Stories. Users are now able to add music straight off their profile playlist by choosing the purpose of the Audio in the menu of the Stickers.
The change simplifies the story telling process and enables users to make richer Stories without changing applications. Telegram is still developing the platform with this update focusing on security, transparency and freedom of creativity.
