Its redesign that is currently being deployed worldwide on web, mobile, and TV is aimed at making the video player closer to reality, better navigating, and making interactions with users more natural. This is following the discovery earlier this month of YouTube experimenting with such interface changes in its mobile application.

The new design is said to provide a cleaner and more immersive video experience, according to the company. To ensure that people can pay more attention to what they see, YouTube has modified the controls, added new icons and optimised the elements of the players. The update brings the Seek feature more up to date, enabling easier double-tap video skipping, and is more fluid when transitioning between tabs on mobile.

YouTube is also implementing other methods of consumer interaction with content. Another highlight is custom-like animation, and that will come out during some types of videos, such as a note of music animation when liking a music video. The site is also rearchitecturing the way users store videos, and it will streamline the process of adding clips to Watch Later or playlists and make it a more animated and aesthetic experience.

YouTube is adding threaded comments on and between devices to simplify discussions and classify the responses in a more Reddit-like format. This has been tried on Android and iOS in the past, and currently it is becoming a common thing throughout the platform.
