New Delhi: Amid a massive outrage over the killing of a woman by a US immigration agent in Minneapolis, a new video of the shooting has surfaced, showing the moment before gunfire rang out. Renee Good, 37, was allegedly shot and killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross on Wednesday during a widespread immigration drive operation in the US city.

The Trump administration has defended the immigration officer, saying the woman was trying to run over him and that he opened fire only to protect himself and fellow agents. The incident sparked massive protests across the US.

The video clip, published online by a Minnesota-based news site, Alpha News, shows the shooting from the perspective of the ICE officer.  A Minnesota prosecutor, meanwhile, urged the public to share with investigators any recording or evidence related to the fatal shooting.

New video captures Renee Good's final moments

The new footage shows the ICE agent approaching and stopping Good's SUV in the middle of the road while apparently recording on his mobile phone. Good's wife is also seen filming the encounter and walking around the vehicle and approaching the officer.

In the video clip, Good can be heard saying, "that's fine, I'm not made at you", as the ICE agent passes by her SUV's door. Good's wife can be heard yelling at the officers while standing outside the passenger side of the vehicle. "You wanna come at us, you wanna come at us, I say go get yourself some lunch big boy," she says.

In the meantime, the ICE agent comes near the front driver side of the SUV and asks Good to get down the car. However, she reverses briefly and drives ahead and Ross opens fire. Good's SUV smashes into others parked on the street and a crashing sound is heard.

Trump admin says new clip backs their claim

The 47-second clip was also reposted by the Department of Homeland Security on its social media. US Vice President JD Vance also shared the latest video on social media, saying that the agent had acted in self-defence. Local officials, however, have insisted the woman posed no danger.

"Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn't hit by a car, wasn't being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman,” Vance said. "The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self defense.”

Meanwhile, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has said any self-defense argument is "garbage.”
