PM Modi arrives in Argentina on two-day visit, to hold bilateral talks with President Milei

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina for a two-day visit, marking the first Indian bilateral trip to the country in 57 years. He will hold talks with President Javier Milei to strengthen cooperation in areas like defence, energy, trade, and technology.

Ezeiza: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries. He was warmly welcomed with a ceremonial reception at the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires on Friday evening (local time). This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years.

During the visit, PM Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with President Javier Milei. The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to boost cooperation in key areas such as defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, investment, tourism, and technology.

PM Modi's second visit to Argentina

This is PM Modi’s second visit to Argentina as Prime Minister. His previous visit was in 2018 for the G20 Summit. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that this bilateral trip will deepen the strategic partnership between India and Argentina.

Before reaching Argentina, PM Modi was in Trinidad and Tobago, where he signed six agreements to strengthen ties and was awarded the country's highest civilian honour, 'The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.' He is the first foreign leader to receive this award.

Argentina important economic partner of India: PM Modi

In a statement before his departure, PM Modi said Argentina is an important economic partner for India in Latin America and a close ally in the G20 group. He expressed his hope for meaningful discussions with President Milei, whom he had met last year.

Argentina is the third stop on PM Modi's five-nation tour. After this, he will travel to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit and then to Namibia for a state visit.
