Aaron Chervenak made headlines in 2016 with his bizarre wedding. The man, who was 34 at the time, married his cellphone at a chapel in Las Vegas. Michael Kelly, the owner of the chapel, was intrigued and amused by Chervenak's unconventional wedding. Understanding the message behind the unique ceremony, Kelly was more than happy to offer his chapel for the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Chervenak was asked if he was willing to accept his cellphone as his lawfully wedded wife. Chervenak responded positively to the question. The officiator stated, "It is now my honour, and my privilege, to pronounce you husband and smartphone."

The ceremony had no legal bearing in the state of Nevada.
Speaking of the symbolic wedding, the man stated, "We connect with our phones on so many emotional levels. We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our minds. To me, that's also what a relationship is about."
Through his act, Chervenak wanted to raise awareness and motivate people to analyse their relationships with their cellphones.
Meanwhile, the chapel also owner stated, "People are so connected to their phones... They go to sleep with their cell phone. They wake up with their cell phone. Sometimes, it's the first thing that they check."
