White House denies Democrats accusation that Trump wrote lewd letter to Epstein
The House Oversight Committee released a purportedly sexually suggestive letter allegedly written by President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump vehemently denies authorship, claiming the letter and accompanying drawing are fabricated.
New Delhi: The Democrats on the House Oversight Committee on Monday released in that is being claimed to be a sexually suggestive letter that US President Donald Trump wrote to Jeffrey Epstein. However, Trump and White House have denied the claim.
What is there in the letter?
The letter is part of a 50th birthday album compiled in 2003 for Epstein, a powerful person and an erstwhile friend of Trump. In 2019, he killed himself while awaiting trial in a Manhattan jail. He was on trial on charges of sexually abusing and trafficking dozens of underage girls.
The letter reportedly has Trump’s name and his signature with the hand-drawn outline of a curvaceous woman. The letter says, "A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
Trump has denied the accusation
Trump has denied the accusation and said the letter or the drawing of a curvaceous woman that surrounds the letter was not written or created by him. Also, the US President filed a $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal for reporting on his link to the letter.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement posted on X, "As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it. President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.”
White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich also defended Trump and posted on X various pictures of Trump’s signature over the years. Notably, in recent times, Trump has faced increasing pressure to disclose the contents of Epstein's files. He was accused of paying underage girls hundreds of dollars in cash for massages and then molesting them.
Earlier, when the Wall Street Journal reported on the letter, Trump said, "These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures."
