Electrifying 2026: Electric vehicles scheduled to launch next year
Following a year where we saw at least seven EV launches, 2026 promises to be an action-filled year for the EV segment. Here's a look at some of the potential arrivals in the coming year.
New Delhi: When ending the year 2025, we would have about seven new electric cars joining the ranks of a well-established EV market. Brands like Vinfast came to India and established nameplates like Tata Harrier and Hyundai Creta got their electric equivalents as well.
In the coming year, we are expecting even more additions to the market in general, and we already have a list of the cars that are close to being unveiled next year. Apart from this, of course, we will be seeing some facelifts in the market as well as the ones that will go into sales, having been launched this year itself. Here are some of the top cars coming to India in 2026.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Sierra might have been the biggest launch of the year 2025, but already, it is going towards the next step. The platform was known to support ICE as well as EV, and Sierra EV is likely to come in the first quarter of 2026 itself. The Sierra EV could be getting a 55 kWh battery pack from the top trim Curvv EV and a 65 kWh unit seen in the entry-level trim of Harrier EV, and it will likely come in RWD and AWD setups.
Vinfast Limo Green
Vinfast launched into the Indian market to a decent uproar with the VF6 and VF7, and in the first quarter of next year, it is expected that the Vietnamese brand’s newcomer will be competing with the BYD eMax 7. The Limo Green will be a 5+2 seat crossover-type MPV. It will get a 60.1 kWh battery that powers the front axle-mounted motor to 201 bhp and will have a claimed range of 450 km on a single charge.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
The Grand Vitara’s electric version launched this year and is expected that the rebadged Toyota will be coming quite soon after Maruti’s first EV. It will differentiate with a headlight similar to Prius, and there will be some small updates to the front and the back of the car, interiors, upholstery and paint schemes too. The batteries, the 49 kWh and 61 kWh, are to be shared between the two cars.
Kia Syros EV
It is expected that in the second quarter, Kia will be bringing the EV version of the Syros to rival the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor. It will look quite similar to the ICE equivalent of the car but will have some obvious changes, like the closed-off grille and charging port at the front fender. It would be the brand’s second EV in the country and will share the powertrain from the Hyundai Inster EV sold out of India, and should either have a 42 kWh battery or a 49 kWh battery.
Vinfast VF3
The Vietnamese brand will have a second EV to launch that will be rivalling the MG Comet. The VF3 is designed to be a boxy, tall-boy and will be powered by an 18.6kWh battery paired with a 43.5hp electric motor. It is likely to come in the first half of next year and improve the affordability of the brand in India.
Skoda Elroq
Skoda are at present caught between what EV to bring in India, and the options would be the Elroq and the Enyaq, both eSUVs, of which one is expected to come in the second half of 2026. The Eroq would be an ideal choice of course and would be placed to rival the likes of entry-level luxury EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB.
Maruti Suzuki ‘YMC’ electric MPV
Maruti Suzuki have a second EV coming as an MPV that is slated to come next year as well. It will have the same 9kWh and 61kWh battery options as the eVitara and will be placed between Ertiga and XL6 to rival against likes of the Kia Carens Clavis EV. The range should be like the eVitara or something around figures as well.
Tata Avinya
Tata Motors have another EV lined up that has been confirmed, and it will be the first product from the brand’s premium EV sub-brand, Avinya, and will be introduced before the end of 2026. The brand have shown two forms, a four-door coupe and a five-door sportback, but it isn’t known which format we’ll see first.
