New Delhi: Performance car and muscle car enthusiasts have something to cheer about with the coming of the turbo Ford Mustang RTR, a mash of active exhausts, anti-lag and good performance brakes. The RTR founder, Vaughn Gittin Jr, has said that it is for the young blood looking for a performance-focused Mustang.

In a first, the RTR-spec Mustang built in-house by Ford is not to be confused with the original Mustang RTR Spec 5 that was seen recently, because that is a Mustang GTD at half its price. This one gets a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang producing 315 bhp and 474 Nm of torque made through Ford Performance parts. It comes with a ten-speed auto ‘box sending the turbocharged power to the rear wheels.

It is made much more accessible to a young audience, and Gittin Jr felt the EcoBoost was far less appreciated and hence they chose it in place of the V8. He explained that the base 4-cylinder car comes with a keener front end than the V8’s configuration, but he wanted a car that was keener.

2026 Ford Mustang RTR features

Ford have given it quite a few features from the V8 Dark Horse, including the new front and rear stabiliser bars, an adjustable strut alignment bracket, and the Dark Horse’s rear subframe with stiffer bushes. Further, it gets a GT-spec steering rack that makes for a whopping 72.5 mm of extra travel, a 600-watt cooling fan, Brembos all around, and even "Ford-patented, race-derived anti-lag” for better throttle response.

The MagneRide damper and stability control also profit from an RTR-specific tweak. For aesthetics, it gets "hyper lime” accents on the car, amazing wheels, RTR badges, and even a powder-coated electric drift brake lever.
