Honda electric concept 0 SUV revealed at Japan Mobility Show, to come in India
Honda have given a first look at the concept 0 SUV in the Japan Mobility Show, and the production spec of the same will be coming to India in 2027, with car globally competing against Maruti Suzuki Vitara EV.
New Delhi: The Honda 0 a (Alpha), the brand’s SUV concept, has been revealed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking the entry point to the brand’s 0 Series of EVs. Honda have confirmed the production-spec 0 SUV will be coming to India and Japan from 2027, along with many other global markets. While the bigger Honda 0 SUV will be brought to India through CBU next year, the 0 SUV will be produced in India.
The new Honda SUV concept is comparatively smaller than the 0 SUV that had been previewed at the start of the year, but shares a similar design structure and design language, coming with a wide and upright stance. Even though it gets sharply raked front and vertical rear windscreens are prominent, the window line narrows toward the back. The thick C-pillar gives an element of an MPV, and a small boot spoiler is also visible.
Honda o a SUV design
The front ‘grille’ area comes with an illuminated Honda logo and even a charging port, framed on the side as well as above the headlights. There is also a dominating chin that flows into thick body cladding on the sides, and the aero-design 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels sitting inside the thick wheel arches.
The rear windscreen is framed with full-width, U-shaped tail lights, and there is also an oversized faux bash plate on the back bumper, which features smaller light units. Honda’s design executive, Taki Fukui, has said that the Honda 0 a is closer to production and most of the details will be seen in the final product.
While Honda haven’t given many details about the Honda 0 a SUV, Toshikazu Hirose, chief engineer of Honda Motor Co., has told Autocar India that the wheelbase is somewhere around 2,700-2,800mm, and that they have made most space in the interior. The design at the back should provide sufficient boot space and interior room.
Hirose has stated that the brand will offer two battery pack options with the production-spec SUV, and both will feature LFP batteries. While the battery details are oblique, Hirose said that it is likely to be 65 kWh- 75 kWh units, and it will be a single-motor, front-wheel drive EV.
On launch, the Honda 0 a should be competing with the likes of Maruti e Vitara in the global market. In India, it will also compete against the Hyundai Creta EV, the Mahindra BE, the MG ZS EV and the Tata Curvv EV.
