New Delhi: In one of the most standout reveals at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering during the Monterey Car Week, Lexus unveiled their Sport Concept, which is a sleek, two-door coupe. It somehow felt less like a concept and more like a testament to the upcoming design from the brand.

Lexus haven’t given much detail on the car as of now except that it is a front-engine rear-drive vehicle with a twin-turbo V8, and could also have a rear transaxle gearbox. There will be a Toyota version too, and it will be the basis for Toyota’s forthcoming GT3 race car.

The detailing is quite interesting on the concept, which includes exhaust pipes under the wing, huge vents on the rear, identical to the ones on the LFA. The big vents behind the window could function as a brake or transaxle cooling. There are four small fans on the centre high-mount stoplight.

Some of the details might not make it to the production version, though; on the road, it will more or less look like this. For now, the Sports Concept doesn’t have an interior or anything, but the Bridgestone logos are shaved off in the tire sidewalls. From the hood, it is clear that the car will get an engine pushed quite behind the front axle, and that does give rise to the idea that it will come with a rear transaxle.

Toyota and Lexus put the old AMG GT R as standard during the production of the car, which is one of the finest specimens of front-engine sports and race cars in more recent times. In fact, it used the front V8 with rear transaxle.

Lexus, in their press release, mentioned that it was a progressively styled, future-focused sports car in its truest form, and it is the way ahead for Lexus design.
