New Delhi: Lamborghini have a new variant to talk about and they have named it Fenomeno. It is based on the flagship Revuelto and comes with the brand’s most V12 ever, along with Hybrid assistance, and with distinct looks which has been called a new “design manifesto”. Lamborghini have said that there will be only a few and have just 29 units produced.
The brand have said that it celebrates their heritage of making exclusive models, delivering the highest standard of performance and technical innovation. Unlike Lamborghini’s other production models, the Fenomeno isn’t named after a fighting bull. While there has been no reason given for the name to medium, the name per se translates to “Phenomenon”.
Since the Fenomeno is essentially Revuelto under the skin, it carries the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 with redesigned valvetrain to get 823 bhp and makes 724 Nm of torque, making it Lamborghini’s most powerful V12 ever. It comes with two e-motors on the front axle, with each making 147 bhp and 349 Nm torque. With that, there is a third motor placed above the dual-clutch gearbox, making the total output of 1065 bhp.
That isn’t where the Reveuelto similarities end with Fenomeno coming with the same carbon monocoque along with “forged composite” front crash structure, which is made from carbon fibres soaked in resin. The body itself is made from carbon as well, with dramatic angles and the familiar Lamborghini fascia. It even has Y-shaped accents abound, which goes back to the all-electric Terzon Millennio concept that had been introduced in 2017.
Design director Mitja Borkert noted that with the Fenomeno, the brand was forging their course for the “future-oriented design language”. He further noted that they had made a hyper-elegant design which is “refined, sophisticated and athletic”. Designed at the Lamborghini Centro Stile, it has been created to mark its 20th anniversary. It is one of the newest coming from the design department as a limited edition with the first being Reventon, and the portfolio includes Sesto Elemento, Veneno, Centenario, Sian and the revived Countach.
There’s a lot of new aerodynamics that is taking place with an S-duct through the front of the nose and newly designed doors that are able to direct cold air into the intakes out back. Further, the intakes also act as huge NACA ducts, which are reminiscent of the ducts that came in the original Countach. The aero, along with the extra power, helps it go from 0-100 kph in just 2.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 349 kph.
It isn’t just all about speed because it needs to come to a standstill from it quite effectively, and that is handled by a set of carbon-ceramic brakes that use tech taken from the Lamborghini LMD program.
CEO Stephan Winkelmann has said that it is a super sports car in limited numbers, which is second to none. He went on to call the whole combination the most outstanding one of this generation.
It is combined with a manually adjustable suspension system and even a “6D” sensor that takes inputs from acceleration, pitch, roll and yaw to be precise in determining the vehicle’s grip situation and give power and traction based on that, which is the first system made available in a Lamborghini for production. Nothing is known about the pricing or availability, although it will bill a heavy number, no doubt and could very much be sold out already.
