New Delhi: It doesn’t take much for Koenigsegg to take back their record of o-249-0 mph from the Rimac, with some software alterations from Jesko Absolut. The company’s software engineers recalibrated the Light Speed Transmission and engine management system, as well as introducing an engine management system that will now allow the Absolut to manage traction better than before.

The changes is being called by Koenisegg as Absolut Overdrive and will be rolled out to existing customers. The Jesko completed a 0-249-0 mph run in 25.21 seconds, and the 0-250-0 mph in 25.67 seconds, shattering Rimac Nevera R’s record by half a second. The Rimac Nevera R did 0-249-0 mph in 25.79 seconds and the 0-250-0 mph in 26.20 seconds.

The Rimac gets an electric 2,107 horsepower, and Koenigsegg comes with a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 producing 1,600 bhp. Which means the two take powers from very different sources, but are somehow only differing by half a second.

Company founder Christian von Koenigsegg commended the achievement, noting that the performance came from a production car with a combustion engine with Rear Wheel Drive only, where the competition was against four-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line. It is a big achievement in terms of acceleration and deceleration from an ICE car.

Koenigsegg had broken Rimac’s record on August 7th at the Orebro airfield with factory test driver Markus Lundh making the drive. It was the same Jesko that had previously set set record in 2024. Founded in 1994, the Swedish company was started with the intention of bringing an amazing sports car, giving competition to Paganis and Bugattis for a long time.

Rimac trace their roots to Croatia, founded by Mate Rimac, and their first car was a conversion 1984 BMW M3 called the Rimac e-M3. The Nevera, manufactured by Rimac and is limited to 150 units.
