Renault India has officially confirmed the return of the Duster SUV. The new-generation model will make its India debut on January 26, marking the comeback of one of the country's early compact SUVs after several years.
New Delhi: Renault India has confirmed that the Duster SUV will return to the Indian market. The new-generation Renault Duster is set to make its India debut on January 26. First introduced in 2012, the Duster was one of the early compact SUVs to gain wide popularity in the country. However, it was later discontinued due to changing market conditions.
The teaser video shared on social media focuses on nostalgia and the Duster’s past presence in India. It opens with a child playing with toy cars. The child is first seen holding a black sedan toy but later notices a scale model of the first-generation Renault Duster. He then sets aside the sedan and picks up the Duster model, linking the new version with the SUV’s earlier identity in the Indian market.
2026 Renault Duster: Teaser highlights
The teaser gives a partial look at the front design of the new Duster. The most visible elements include Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps and a wide front grille. These features give the SUV a more upright and rugged stance compared to the earlier model. However, the overall design seems similar to the international-spec Duster that is already sold in some global markets, while still carrying design elements that remind buyers of the original Indian version.
2026 Renault Duster: Engine and transmission options
Renault has not officially shared engine details yet. However, the Duster may arrive with two petrol engine options, including a 1.3-litre turbo and 1.2-liter mild hybrid. Later they might also launch a strong-hybrid powertrain with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. Although, diesel engines are not expected to return this time. Depending on the variant, the SUV could be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
2026 Renault Duster: Interior and features
Details about the interior have not been revealed, but the new Duster is expected to have cabin layout and features similar to the globally available variant. As a result the new Duster may come with more tech features compared to its previous version. Expected updates include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected car features, and better safety equipment. Higher variants may also offer advanced driver assistance features.
