New Delhi: Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away aged 89 in Mumbai today, leaving behind a big legacy of iconic films. Known as the ‘He-Man’ of the Indian cinema, Dharmendra gave hits like ‘Sholay’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Anupama’ and ‘Blackmail’. The news has shocked his fans as well as the film fraternity.
With his larger-than-life image came exquisite car collections as well. A beloved actor, his car collection had the choicest vintage and luxury cars. Back in the early 1960s, when Dharmendra was still struggling to make a name in the film industry, he bought the Fiat 1100 with Rs 18,000. He confessed that, coming in an era full of talent, he was afraid of being replaced easily and hence kept the car as a backup for him to use as a taxi. While it never happened, Dharmendra kept the car in his garage, showing the bond people share with cars.
