Volvo EX30 launched at initial pricing of Rs 39.99 lakh for festive season
Volvo have launched the EX30 in India, with just the long-range 69 kWh lithium-ion unit, which has a WLTP range of 480 km on one charge and will be priced post-festive season at Rs 41 lakh.
New Delhi: Volvo India have announced the pricing of their new entry-level EV, the EX30 SUV. Coming in just a single variant, EX30 for now is priced at Rs 39.99 lakh for buyers who are pre-booking before October 19th of this year. However, after that, the pricing will increase to Rs 41 lakh. The deliveries for the EX30, assembled here at Volvo’s Hosakote, Bengaluru plant, will commence from the first week of November.
The Volvo EX30’s introductory price of Rs 39.99 lakh is quite well priced, coming in a space dominated by the likes of Hyundai Ioniq 5, BYD Sealion 7, BMW iX1, Kia EV6 and Mini Countryman Electric. Even when the price increases, eventually, it will still be the most affordable in the segment of entry-level luxury EVs.
Volvo EX30 battery and range
Unlike the model that comes with two battery options, the India-spec EX30 only gets the larger capacity 69 kWh lithium-ion unit, which has a WLTP range of 480 km on one charge. The battery powers a rear axle-mounted electric motor that makes 272 bhp and 343 nm of torque. It has a 0-100 kph acceleration of 5.3 seconds and a top speed limited to 180 kph. The EX30 comes with a one-pedal driving option.
It means it will set the brake regeneration to allow the EV to come to a halt without the use of the brake pedal.
The Swedish brand also comes with an 11kW wallbox charger (0-100 per cent SOC taking a claimed seven hours) and an 8-year/1.6km battery warranty as standard. The small EV also gets a three-year warranty, 2-year Volvo Service Package and 3 years of roadside assistance, with a five-year subscription to digital services that the company has named ‘Connect Plus’.
Volvo EX30 interior, exterior and features
The EX30 holds resemblance to the flagship EX90 SU, with the closed-off grille and Volvo’s ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights, which come with active high beam assist. The EX30 looks a little less upright than the slightly larger EX40, and does have a crossover design. It gets 19-inch five-spoke aero wheels that are standard for the Indian-spec, and buyers have the option of five colours. Colvo claims that the boot space is 318 litres and has a 7-litre trunk.
On the inside, the EX30 is similar to the larger siblings, and the small EV comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with in-built Google at the centre of the dashboard, a new three-spoke steering wheel, Nordico upholstery and a nine-speaker 1040W Harman Kardon sound system. Other features include a fixed panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, eight-way powered front seats, inductive and wireless smartphone chargers and a powered tailgate.
The EX30 gets a Level 2 ADAS suite and features emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and rear cross traffic alert, along witha 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor and seven airbags.
