Stellantis detect breach at a third-party provider, affect North American customers

Stellantis have said that they initiated investigation and response protocols for the breach including notifying the authorities about the event and are calling the affected customers.

New Delhi: Stellantis detected unauthorised access to a third-party service provider’s platform that supports their North American customer service operations, the company said in a statement. The company said that the incident is currently under investigation, and only basic information is known so far; and financial details or sensitive personal data aren’t involved in this.

Stellantis haven’t given the number of people who are affected by this, but has said that as soon as the breach was noted, they had initiated the “incident response protocols and are informing the customers directly. It has been said that it had also notified authorities and told their customers to be alert to all kinds of phishing activities.

This does beg a question, if modern cars are being loaded with too much tech, which in turn is making them more vulnerable to such breaks, than stronger and convenient? Yes, the tech has made certain accesses and definitely improved many functions but it is making access to data easier.
