Bank Holidays in August 2025: Full list

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the bank holiday list for August 2025. The holiday list mentions that banks will remain closed Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Janmashtami and other events.

New Delhi: Banks will remain closed for 15 days in the month of August 2025 for Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Janmashtami and other regional celebrations. The banks will also observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturday and all Sundays.

With only two days left for July to end, we inform you about the official bank holiday list released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for August 2025. The bank holiday list will help you to check your local bank branch holiday dates and plan the bank related work accordingly. The bank holidays differ across states due to regional and local requirements.

August 3: All the banks across India will be closed as it is a Sunday.

August 8: Banks will observe a holiday in Sikkim for Tendong Lho Rum Faat.

August 9: RBI has mentioned that banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad , Bhopal, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Shimla and Bhubaneshwar on account of Raksha Bandhan and Jhulana Purnima. Notably, as it is a Seciond Saturday, all banks will remain closed across the country.

August 10: All banks in the country will observe a holiday for Sunday weekend.

August 13: Banks will be closed in Manipur for Patriot’s Day.

August 15: Banks across the country will observe a holiday on account of Independence Day and Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi) and Janmashtami celebrations.

August 17: Banks will be closed for Sunday weekend.

August 19: Banks will be closed in Agartala on the account of birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

August 23 and 24: Banks will remain closed across the country for the fourth Saturday and Sunday weekend.

August 25: Banks will observe a holiday in Assam on account of Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva.

August 27: Banks to remain closed in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, and Panaji for Ganesh Chaturthi and Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha) and Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata and Ganesh Puja and Vinayakar Chathurthi.

August 28: Banks will be closed in Bhubaneshwar and Panaji for the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi and Nuakhai.

August 31: Banks will observe a holiday for Sunday weekend.
