Bharat Taxi, a new cooperative-backed ride-hailing platform, has entered Indias mobility market with a pilot launch in Delhi, positioning itself as a challenger to established services like Ola, Uber, and Rapido.

Supported by eight major organisations, including Amul, IFFCO, and NABARD, the service commenced operations offering cars, autos, and bike taxis. Over 51,000 drivers have already registered for the platform.

Operating under Shahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited, a multi-state cooperative reportedly formed in June 2025, Bharat Taxi distinguishes itself with a zero-commission model, ensuring drivers retain their full earnings.

Cooperative profits are also directed back to the drivers. The platform features two elected driver representatives on its governing board, aligning with the government’s vision of Sahkar Se Samriddhi (prosperity through cooperatives), as stated by Chairman Jayan Mehta.
