Book Vande Bharat Express tickets 15 minutes before train arrival on select routes

New Delhi: In a move to enable passengers to book tickets for select Vande Bharat Express trains just 15 minutes before train arrival, the Railways has upgraded the Passenger Reservation System (PRS). The new facility has been introduced to enhance passenger experience and ensure hassle-free current bookings.

This new IRCTC ticket booking option has been initiated for eight Vande Bharat trains which are operated under the Southern Railway (SR) zone. Previously, tickets could not be booked once the train left its originating station.

Earlier, this facility was not available and the passengers were barred from ticket booking from enroute stations o­nce the train left the source station.

With the new system in place, such vacant accommodations will now be made available for current booking of Vande Bharat Trains at enroute stations, significantly benefitting passengers and enabling better occupancy of the train.

“For the 8 Vande Bharat trains originating from Southern Railway, current reservations can be done at enroute stations upto 15 minutes before the departure,” the official statement read.

The modification has been done for the following 8 Vande Bharat trains:

1. 20631 Mangaluru Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharat Express

2. 20632 Thiruvananthapuram Central- Mangaluru Central Vande Bharat Express

3. 20627 Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express

4. 20628 Nagercoil - Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express

5. 20642 Coimbatore-Bengaluru Cantt. Vande Bharat Express

6. 20646 Mangaluru Central-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express

7. 20671 Madurai-Bengaluru Cantt. Vande Bharat Express

8. 20677 Dr MGR Chennai Central-Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express

“For the benefit of passengers, in order to facilitate hassle-free current booking of Vande Bharat Express trains at enroute stations, Southern Railway has put in place a systemic improvement. For eight services of Vande Bharat trains originating in the zone, certain modifications have been effected in the Passenger Reservation System,” the statement read.
