Digital life certificate: How can senior citizens submit it without visiting bank

November is the month of submitting life certificates for pensioners. However, not all senior citizens are physically fit to visit a bank, queue up if required and then submit life certificates. PSB Alliance and India Post Payments Bank now offer doorstep services for submitting digital life certificates.

Kolkata: Pensioners have to submit life certificates to the bank to keep their pension flowing. November is the month when this process has to be wrapped up. But many senior citizens are of failing health and are not in a position to visit a bank and submit it. To help these individuals, PSB Alliance and India Post Payments Bank have come forward to ensure submission of digital life certificates. They can do so from the comfort of their homes.

The services offered by PSB Alliance is free, while India Post Payments Bank charges only Rs 70 for the service. Failure to submit life certificate in time will result in suspension of pension payment. Know how the details of the process. Both the processes are quite convenient.

PSB Alliance can help an individual by bringing to his/her home a banking agent from a public sector bank. This person will will come to your home and prepare the digital life certificate. The point to note is that even for those who don't have an account with India Post Payments Bank can use its services for the submission of life certificates. Incidentally, the fee of Rs 70 payable for this purpose includes GST.

Using services of India Post Payments Bank

The pensioner or his/her relatives/friends can call a postman/gram dak sevak to the home of the pensioner by visiting the nearest post office. It can also be done through the Post Info App or the ccc.cept.gov.in portal. There is just one condition: the mobile number of the pensioner must be linked to his/her Aadhaar and can be used for verification of OTP. visiting the pensioner will capture the biometrics and enter the data on a portable device. The representative will issue Praman ID and the pensioner will get a transaction ID via SMS. This id can be used to download the digital life certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in.

Using services from PSB Alliance

One has to download the Doorstep Banking (DSB) app. After the initial step is complete, one has to log in with the mobile number and select the bank. One has to check availability by entering the relevant area's PIN code and selecting the "Life Certificate/DLC" service and book an address and time slot. Senior citizens won;pt have to pay anything. After receiving the service request (SR ID), the agent will visit, capture the biometrics of the pensioner and file the digital life certificate.

Documents necessary

The following documents of the pensioner will be required:

Aadhaar (which must be linked to the pension issuing bank/post office)

Pension type, Pension Payment Order number, account number, date of birth and identity details which match Aadhaar and bank records

One should apply well in advance. The fingers of the pensioner must be dry and clean (no grease, oil etc).

If mobile number has changed, it has to be updated in the records to get the OTP. After the digital life certificate is deposited, one must get it confirmed by the bank/post office.
