EPFO grievance portal: How to use it; a step-by-step guide

The EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) is fast transforming from a fully brick and mortar organisation to a service-oriented technology-driven one that wants to deliver quick services for EPFO members.

Kolkata: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation or EPFO, is one of the largest retirement funds body in the world, the total number of subscribers of which exceed the total population of many major countries. Therefore, it is natural that there will be a sizeable number of subscribers who could have grievances at any given point of time. EPFO has, in its effort to transform itself into a tech-intensive oganisation to deliver services, has a portal to register grievances for hassle-free processing and quick redressal.

This unified portal offers multiple services from claim settlements to routine updating of passbooks. One can take help of the EPFO poral if there are any grievances with respect to its services such as withdrawing money in advance due to emergency, transferring accounts, settling claims etc. There is no need to rush to an EPO office to meet officers and engage in time-consuming activities. The EPFO grievance portal can help settle the issue. What follows below are a few steps in which one can register one's grievances online for redressal.

Steps to register grievances

ONE: The website of the EPF i Grievance Management System is https://epfigms.gov.in/grievance/grievancemaster and it will directly lead you to the relevant page

TWO: You have to click on your status -- whether you are a PF member, EPS pensioner, Employer or others (Others is reserved for those without UAN. Can be a family member of a EPFO subscriber)

THREE: Type in your UAN and security code: Click 'Get Details' to get account information.

FOUR: Verify name, UAN, email ID, and mobile number will appear. You have to confirm whether they are correct.

FIVE: Select 'Get OTP'. Enter the OTP sent to the phone number registered with EPFO.

SIX: Under 'Personal Details' section, select the PF account.

SEVEN: Type in your grievance.

EIGHT: Select grievance type, category.

NINE: Upload documents, if any, to support your claim. Click 'Choose Files', select relevant documents, click 'Attach'.

TEN: Submit the complaint. You will get a registration number which you can use for tracking. Details will also be sent on your email

Usually the EPFO disposes off complaints/grievances within a maximum period of 30 days.
