New Delhi: The new GST reforms usher in a new era in the agriculture and dairy sector. With the reduction in GST rates, farmers, agricultural and dairy workers, and livestock owners will be able to increase their savings and reduce their input costs, as the GST on these inputs is set to decrease after the September 22 implementation.
The various sectors in agriculture, ranging from biopesticides and micronutrients to agroforestry and poultry farming, are set to witness major changes. Additionally, reduced GST on tendu leaves will help tribal communities to earn their livelihood and strengthen.
The reduction of GST on bio-pesticides and micronutrients is set to support farmers while encouraging a transition from chemical inputs to bio-fertilizers.
In the dairy industry, the exemption of GST on milk and cheese will provide relief not just to consumers but also to farmers, livestock keepers, and dairy producers.
These reforms are expected to boost integrated farming practices, creating opportunities for growth in allied sectors such as animal husbandry, beekeeping, fisheries, agroforestry, and poultry.
