Railway stocks: These three generated stupendous returns of up to 5,841%

Cosmic CRF, Kernex Microsystems and Hind Rectifiers are three companies the fortunes of which are intimately linked with the Indian Railways. Over the past few years, the railways have got significant support from the government, which has helped companies associated with it generate very high returns for investors.

Kolkata: India still substantially moved on railways and to upgrade transportation, the government has focused a lot of its energy and resources to improve and modernise the railways. This has majorly boosted a number of companies linked to the railways. Cosmic CRF, Kernex Microsystems and Hind Rectifiers are three companies are three such firms, which have generated strong returns for investors. Let's have a look at each of them.

Kernex Microsystems

The Kavach system has gained a lot of attention, thanks to the effort of the railway authorities to put in place systems to avoid accidents and collisions. This company is a leading railway safety systems firm and it creates high-tech solutions such as Kavach TCAS, anti-collision devices, train collision avoidance systems, and automatic level crossing gates. One of its primary system TrainShield helps prevent accidents by continuously monitoring train speed and signal-related defects.

On Nov 19 afternoon Kernex Microsystems (India) shares were trading at Rs 1,353.30, up Rs 35.50 or 2.69%. In the past six months the shares have gone up by 51.68% and by 46.60% in the past one year. It has generated a return of 287% in three years and 5,671% in five years. In Q2FY26 the company's revenue stood at Rs 47.1 crore against Rs 41.2 crore in the same period in 2024. PAT declined slightly from Rs 6.8 crore in Q2FY25 to Rs 6.5 crore in Q2FY26.

Cosmic CRF

CRF products are structural components for wagons and coaches made from cold-rolled formed steel. Cosmic CRF is one of the prominent manufacturers of such CRF products. It is known for technological skills and engineering capabilities in the corridors of Indian Railways. It has a few manufacturing plants in Singur, Howrah and another place in West Bengal.

On Nov 19 afternoon, Cosmic CRF shares were trading at Rs 1,295, down Rs 56.15 or 4.16%. Its shares have risen 15.38% in a month. Though its returns were negative (10%) in the past one year, it has given a return of 442.64% in the past five years. In Q2FY26, sales stood at Rs 304 crore -- a huge jump from Rs 169 crore in the same period last year. PAT rose to Rs 24 crore from Rs 18 crore in 2024 (the same period). The order book of Cosmic CRF stood at Rs 615 crore.

Hind Rectifiers

Mumbai-based Hind Rectifiers is active in manufacturing power electronics, semiconductor devices and railway traction systems. These are used in crucial sectors such as power, aviation, telecom and railway electrification.

On Nov 19 afternoon Hind Rectifiers stock was trading at Rs 1,524.30, up Rs 5.40 or 0.36%. While it has delivered a negative 4.41 in the past one month, the returns were 31.46% in the past one year. The returns zoomed to 1,069.58% if considered over the past 5 years. The revenue of Hind Rectifiers in Q2FY26 stood at Rs 227.1 crore, up from Rs 165.8 crore in the same period in 2024. PAT jumped from Rs 10.2 crore to Rs 14.7 crore in the two Q2 periods in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The company has an order book of Rs 1,099 crore.
