Trump signals fair US-India trade deal & lower tariffs soon

US President Donald Trump announced an imminent, fair US-India trade deal, promising to significantly reduce high tariffs currently imposed on Indian exports. He stated past agreements were unbalanced but this new pact prioritizes mutual benefit, aiming to boost trade relations. This move follows India's reduced oil purchases from Russia, paving the way for strengthened economic ties.

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has indicated that a fair trade deal will be made between India and the US soon. Trump said that this agreement would be beneficial for both countries and it would strengthen the trade relationship. He said that the high tariffs imposed on India at the moment will be reduced in the future. He made this statement during the swearing-in ceremony of the new US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore.

Trump said that the trade deal being made this time is completely different from before. He said that the trade agreements signed last time were quite unbalanced, but this time the deal is being decided keeping in mind the interests of both countries. Trump said that he wants a compromise that proves to be good for everyone.

Strengthening US-India Relations Through Fair Trade Deals

At present, a tariff of about 50 percent is levied on exports from India to the US, which is equivalent to countries like Brazil. This rate is the highest among US trading partner countries. This additional 25 percent duty was levied on account of India's purchase of oil from Russia.

Trump said that India has now significantly reduced the purchase of oil from Russia. He said that this is the reason why the United States is now considering reducing tariffs in the future. Trump said that tariffs are high at the moment, but over time they will be reduced so that the trade of both countries can be benefited.

Sergio Gore was sworn in as the US Ambassador to India on Monday. Trump said that Gore will further strengthen the relationship between the US and India. They will work towards enhancing investment, energy cooperation and security partnership between the two countries.

Trump said that the United States is working towards reducing the high tariffs imposed on India. He said that when trade is equalized, the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened. He said that the deals made earlier were not fair, but the deal that will be made now will be completely fair and transparent.
