CISF Recruitment Drive: 70,000 jobs to be created in 5 years, says Home Ministry

The Union Home Ministry has written a letter to CISF Director General RS Bhatti stating that the President of India has approved the increase in CISF strength to 2.20 lakh. Currently, the selection is going on to recruit 24,098 personnel.

New Delhi: Big news for job aspirants who are specifically aiming to join the armed forces. The Union Home Ministry has approved an increase in the recruitment of personnel in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The sources suggest that the Home Ministry has written a letter to CISF Director General RS Bhatti regarding the same.

In this letter, the ministry has informed the Director General that the President of India has approved that the maximum number of CISF strength be increased from 1.62 lakh to 2.20 lakh. Therefore, in the next five years, about 14,000 personnel will be recruited in the CISF every year, which will be close to 70,000 posts in five years.

The government has decided to increase the strength of the CISF by an additional 58,000 personnel as new industrial hubs are expected to come up in Naxal-affected areas. Home Minister Amit Shah has set a deadline of March 2026 to end Naxal activities in the state of Chhattisgarh. Maoist attacks and influence have declined rapidly in the last few years in sensitive and agency areas. To safeguard the growth of industries, a strong presence of CISF is required.

The sources suggest that CISF has recruited a total of 12,230 personnel in 2024. This year, recruitment is underway for a total of 24,098 vacancies. CISF is making its best efforts to draft guidelines to recruit at least 14,000 personnel every year for five years, which will take their total strength to 2.20 lakh.

Over 1 lakh vacant posts in CAPF

On July 23, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that 1.09 lakh posts are vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles as of January 1. While replying to a written question in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said that the recruitment for 72,689 posts is ongoing.
