Bengaluru: Two people have been arrested at Bengaluru airport for allegedly carrying exotic wildlife species. They were arrested by Custom officials shortly after they arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from Bangkok. The two passengers were carrying exotic wildlife animals including white-Cheeked Gibbon, Monkey and Hornbill.
In a post on 'X', Bengaluru Customs said that on November 9, its officers at KIA intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized exotic wildlife species including white-Cheeked Gibbon, Monkey and Hornbill.
"The passengers have been arrested under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972," it added.
The Custom officials also arrested a passenger on the same day who arrived from Bangkok, for allegedly carrying ganja worth Rs 1 crore.
According to Bengaluru Customs, the accused was intercepted by officers at the Kempegowda International Airport and 2.990 kg of Hydroponic Ganja valued at Rs 1.04 crore was seized from him. The passenger was subsequently arrested he passenger has been arrested under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985).
